10:00 AM – 4:30 PM CDT
After a 3 year absence, our state CCL summer conference is back! The meeting will be held in Decorah on July 23rd from 10:00-4:30 Central Time. For those who prefer, the meeting will be livestreamed via Zoom. We hope to assemble CCL members from chapters across Iowa for a fun day of education, networking and recharging in our pursuit of addressing climate change in our communities, our state, our country and our world. Non CCL members are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will have presentations from three speakers. Ayman Sharif is a recent graduate from the University of Iowa School of Planning and Public Affairs and the director of A&W Sustainable Planning and Outreach. He will give a presentation on Community-Driven Climate Resilience Planning. Chris Jones is a research engineer with IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering at the University of Iowa, who will discuss issues related to water quality in Iowa. Jim Martin-Schramm, a board member of the Winneshiek Energy District, which has pioneered the clean energy district model. He will talk about the Clean Energy District Model and the Energy Transition.
We will have two simultaneous workshops. The first is CCL Climate Advocacy Basics (for people new to CCL, or people who want to review the basics) and the second is Chapter Development (for more experienced volunteers, or new people particularly interested in chapter development).
Masks will be required inside the venue at all times. If the Covid infection rate increases, the organizing committee may decide to make the meeting virtual only. This decision will be made by July 11th, and those registered will be notified.
Lunch is not provided. There will be a 1 hour and 30 minute lunch break and we will provide a list of restaurants, including some with outdoor seating. For lodging information, please go to visit decorah.com.
Attendence at the Conference is free, but for those who can afford it a donation of $15 is suggested. We welcome more, if you are able, to help defray the cost of the putting on the Conference.
