Listening and Motivating for Change (Motivational Interviewing)
Learn the core mindset and tools of Motivational Interviewing—how to use OARS and listen for change talk so others discover their own reasons to support climate solutions.
Part Three helps CCL volunteers turn their knowledge into relationship-centered advocacy—the kind that builds trust, lowers defensiveness, and makes room for durable climate progress. Using tools from Motivational Interviewing, High Conflict, and Persuasive Communication, learners practice listening for values, navigating tension without escalation, and communicating in ways that invite genuine motivation rather than compliance. By the end, volunteers can stay grounded in CCL’s culture of respect while engaging their community and policymakers with clarity, empathy, and integrity.
This unit will be available in August to allow all CCL volunteers to work together on our shared BRIDGE framework. Complete Units 1 and 2 to build your foundation while you wait!
