CCL’s chapter in Portland, Maine, knows how to keep up a drumbeat of climate action — literally! Last fall, the group held a “Concert for Climate” fundraiser, featuring a multimedia program featuring pianists, a violinist, a jazz group, a spoken word performance, and more. The event, organized by chapter member Sydney Patton and a committee of Portland chapter members, raised funds that will help send Maine students to Washington, D.C., for CCL’s annual Summer Conference and Lobby Day coming up in July.

One of the attendees said that “even in the face of what seems impossible, the Concert for Climate provided a reminder that we have to try something, and the best way to do that is together, and with spirit and rhythm.” If your climate advocacy could use a musical boost today, watch the full program on YouTube.

And last month, with the support of CCL’s Meteorologist Outreach Action Team, CCL Portland volunteers presented WCSH meteorologist Keith Carson with a Climate Coverage Champion Award for his excellent coverage of Maine's changing climate.

“Our volunteers have been featured on WCSH in the past and were thrilled to honor Keith's great work on educating Mainers on climate change's impacts on our community," says Maine state coordinator Peter Dugas.
