Carbon Pricing: Following the Research to Lead the Politics

Join CCL for a learning series exploring what a decade of real-world carbon pricing can teach us—and how that knowledge shapes stronger, more durable climate advocacy.

In partnership with

Climate change is here, and people are feeling the impacts every day. CCL is committed to advancing evidence-based climate solutions to help solve it—like carbon pricing, one of the most powerful policy tools available.

There’s a lot we can learn from real-world carbon pricing

Carbon pricing now exists in over 120 jurisdictions worldwide, giving us far more real-world implementation data than we had a decade ago.

Why this series, why now

CCL’s value of integrity means following the research so we can lead the politics. In 2009, carbon fee and dividend was a concise, compelling policy vision grounded in leading economic thinking. Since then, economists and policymakers have learned enormously from real-world implementation.

The climate policy landscape is changing rapidly, and today’s discussions now include affordability, industrial policy, trade, permitting, and energy security. That’s why we’re taking time to learn together—so our advocacy stays effective, credible, and durable for the next major opening.

This series is a chance to learn together, stay curious, and examine changing realities —an investment in stronger long-term advocacy.

What the series will explore

Based in large part on member survey feedback, sessions will cover:

  • The economics of carbon pricing
  • Affordability and consumer impacts
  • Emissions outcomes and policy effectiveness
  • Political durability and public support
  • International systems and lessons learned
  • Competitiveness and trade considerations
  • Carbon pricing alongside industrial policy & clean energy investment
