@Peter Joseph From our perspective, it's crazy, but it makes perfect sense for a President who has declared war on the truth and who wants to receive kickbacks from the fossil fuel industry.
@Robert J Hudson @Peter Joseph I agree. If you want all the power in your hands, it's important to shush anyone who has knowledge and expertise.
There's some good news on this front, @Peter Joseph @Robert J Hudson @Kathy Seal @John Gage:
The American Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Union said they will work together to produce peer-reviewed research documents assessing the current and future national impacts of climate change because a science-based report required by law is suddenly in question and being reassessed by President Donald Trump's White House.
@Dana Nuccitelli - thanks, that is encouraging! Also, as the USGCRP led by NOAA is required by federal law to produce a periodic National Climate Assessment, the next one will have to be produced eventually.
In the meantime, the scientific consensus about AGW has been established, and extrapolating a linear progressively worse future from the fifth NCA gives us a reasonable projection of what to expect for the next several years.
It's time to focus on communicating with the public and community leaders about the importance and urgency of putting a steadily rising cash-back carbon fee on fossil fuel production and imports.
