Hello,
We have two new postdoctoral positions available at USC, one in microplastics and one in eDNA.
The first is a position with the USC Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability and USC Sea Grant. The fellow will join the team of a recently funded collaboration with the City of Santa Barbara titled “Clean Streets, Clean Seas” to innovate public works (street sweeping, catch basins) to intercept microplastics in coastal urban runoff. They will help lead research and policy development on marine microplastics, participate in program management, and develop extension work that connects program outcomes to public stakeholders. More information can be found here (https://dornsife.usc.edu/uscseagrant/marine-debris-postdoctoral-associate/). Point of contact is Karla Heidelberg (kheidelb@usc.edu)
The second is a position with the USC Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability. The fellow will conduct research related to a funded project, “Identifying microbially-mediated marine eDNA decay rates to enhance ocean monitoring,” and work closely with a collaborative group of microbiologists, ecologists, and fisheries scientists from USC, the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP), and the NOAA California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries (CalCOFI). More information can be found here (https://dornsife-wrigley.usc.edu/about/job-openings/postdoctoral-researcher-environmental-dna-and-ocean-monitoring/). Point of contact is John Heidelberg (jheidelb@usc.edu)
