I was driving this morning with my windows down to get fresh air. I ended up breathing polluted air from trucks emission gas. Horrible!

@Luciene Gomes so sorry you have to experience that! Air pollution and its many terrible health impacts is a great way to start to have discussions with people about reducing oil, gas and coal use. I think it’s a more concrete and personal way for many people to start to approach the issue than to talk about climate change. So glad you’re on the CCL team!

Joanne, I completely agree. I've been doing this much more the last few years, and it's so much more engaging than any other conversation starter. I begin many of these conversations by asking people if they've had that experience of being stopped in traffic or just close behind another vehicle and experience their car fill up with noxious fumes. Almost everyone says yes, and more people are saying that happens more frequently than they can remember in the past. I wonder with them why the air filters in our cars don't seem to help. Then we're off to the pollution/CO2 races. These conversations often wend around to my asking if they are old enough to remember how much cigarette smoke we all used to breathe until cigarettes got significantly taxed for the the health hazards they presented. That's my entry into pricing carbon and it only takes 4 or 5 sentences.
