Hi, I hope this will be seen by the right person.
The recent emails urging calls using the tool at citizenscliatelobby dot org/get-loud-take-action/protect-tax-credits-ira-senate/ is calling an office of CA Senator Alex Padilla which does not take phone messages – so the call gets logged as made but actually has no effect (it is not possible to leave voicemail; you only hear “my office is closed…call back…").
I don't know if there is a better number; or can the system be made to accept “press 7 if you could not speak with anyone or leave a message” – which would automatically alert ccl admins that the phone number being used was not useful.
@Jim Avera the same thing happened to me last night for Illinois Senator Durbin. His office typically doesn't take phone messages.
Good flag, guys.
Unfortunately sometimes, though there’s not a “better number.” Some congressional offices don’t always have voicemail set up. Some times they do and some times they don’t. If they reach their MOCs office after hours and they’re not currently taking voice messages, they can call back during normal hours.
If that fails, send an email, notify your elected officials however you can! This was just asked in the Primary Ask training tonight (June 30), so catch that video at the :53 ish mark.
@Thomas Rausch , Sen. Durbin does not have voicemail, according to our CCL state leaders. I ended up just emailing him.
