About Us

Action Team
To solve the climate crisis, Citizens’ Climate Lobby empowers people to use the tools of democracy to build political will for climate solutions in Congress. Our methods include education on the science, economics, and politics surrounding climate change. We meet with Members of Congress, write letters to the editors of national and local newspapers, and conduct outreach in our local communities. Most importantly we are action-oriented. Our goal is to match what scientists tell us with practical solutions that can be enacted legislatively.

This Fall, CCL is offering a 15-week Climate Advocacy Training Program for anyone interested in learning and applying CCL’s methods for climate action. Participants who successfully complete the program by December 31 will receive CCL’s Certificate of Completion, and if they are enrolled at a school in the Spring, can interview for CCL’s Campus Leaders Program to start a climate campaign or CCL chapter at their school. In addition, participants receive information about internships, events, actions, and other opportunities with CCL or partner organizations.

More Info

Throughout the program, participants will:

1. Attend at least nine sessions of CCL’s Core Volunteer Trainings and post in the discussion forum reflections inspired by that week’s training.
2. Attend CCL's virtual conference in December.
3. Write and submit a letter-to-the-editor or op-ed to your preferred media outlet.

Participants have the option to:

1. Join their local CCL chapter.
2. Participate in a lobby meeting with the office of a member of Congress.
3. Have a call with a regional fellow or student engagement coordinator to discuss further involvement.

Students and non-students of all ages are welcome to join. No application or prerequisites are necessary and there is no cost. The program takes about two hours a week and academic credit is possible through arrangement with the student's academic institution.

CCL is a national nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with educational programs and lobbying activities (designations of 501c3 and 501c4). Our mission is to create the political will for a sustainable climate and to empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.
