We’re only a few days away from the end of 2024. Wow! It’s easy to feel like the year passed in a blur, but it’s worth it to slow down and reflect. Take a few minutes to review this year’s highlights — and your own achievements as a climate advocate — in CCL’s year-end recap.

See what we’ve accomplished together this year, including:

  • Just how much we talked to Congress (Spoiler alert: SO much)
  • Average steps we logged on Capitol Hill
  • The big name media outlets who published our bylines
  • Bills we helped to get introduced, move through Congress, and become law

Plus, the recap shows how your own efforts fit into the big picture of CCL’s climate work. Get ready to give yourself and your fellow grassroots volunteers a big pat on the back after a busy year!

In other news this week:

  • Momentum after a milestone: We just hit a big milestone in our year-end fundraiser! Thank you to each and every CCL supporter who has already donated. There are only a few more days left to give — and still a way to go to hit our goal — so let’s keep the momentum going through Dec. 31. If you haven’t already, please donate today to make sure CCL is equipped to protect climate progress in the year ahead.
  • Happy New Year! CCL's Weekly Briefing will take a break next week, and we'll be back in your inbox on Jan. 8, 2025.

Take action this week

Are you a social media savvy CCLer? Consider joining our new social media project, called #TheSocialClimate. Spearheaded by CCL’s Content Marketing Manager Elissa Tennant, #TheSocialClimate is a long-term project where a group of volunteers contribute to CCL’s TikTok account.

We’re looking for creative people who know their way around TikTok and who own a high-quality phone camera. You can learn more about this project and peep some post ideas by checking out the slide presentation at cclusa.org/tsc, or watching Elissa’s presentation from our Fall Virtual Conference earlier this month.

If you’re ready to jump in, go ahead and fill out the form at cclusa.org/thesocialclimate to get started.

Upcoming trainings

CCL is not holding any live trainings this week due to the holidays, but you can revisit these key conference sessions to get ready for 2025:

Remarks from Senator-elect John Curtis - A Republican from Utah, Senator-elect John Curtis has been vocal about climate change during his time in the House of Representatives. In early December, he shared his perspective on what's possible for climate action in the new Congress and under the new administration. (He had some kind words for his local CCLers, too!) Watch now.

Carbon Pricing Opportunities in the 119th Congress - With the election behind us, we have a clearer picture of the opportunities and constraints the new Congress may present for implementing a carbon price. In this session, Dr. Danny Richter, CCL’s Policy Fellow, walks us through the lay of the land and how carbon pricing policy could evolve and tie in with tax policy reform. Watch now.

The Continuing Case for Permitting Reform - Rob Gramlich (President of Grid Strategies LLC) and Shane Londagin (Senior Policy Advisor for Innovation at Third Way) join CCL's Research Coordinator Dana Nuccitelli to discuss the need for more permitting reform. Watch now.
