Featured chapter: CCL Indiana
Like many volunteers across the country, the folks in CCL Indiana have been hard at work urging their lawmakers to protect America’s clean energy tax credits in the budget reconciliation bill working its way through Congress. This week, their efforts earned some fantastic media coverage in their local newspaper!
“As it stands, that bill would really undermine a lot of progress that has been made, specifically around our clean energy future,” Indiana State Coordinator Marcia Veldman told The Herald-Times in Bloomington.
Kristina Lindborg serves as the CCL liaison to Rep. Erin Houchin (R-IN-09), who signed multiple letters to congressional leadership supporting the clean energy tax credits. Kristina told the paper, “We think our conversations with her did have an impact.” The story also noted CCL Indiana’s recent meetings with the office of Sen. Todd Young, who sits on the Senate Finance Committee.
“Lindborg, Veldman and other CCL members from Indiana will travel to Washington, D.C., in late July,” the newspaper reported. “The Senate aims to pass the bill by July 4. But if it’s not passed by then, the lobbyists plan to focus their efforts on advocating to keep the clean energy tax credits.”
The story continued, “Jobs and investments depending on the credits are on the line, Veldman said, and so are consumer energy costs.” That’s exactly the message we want lawmakers to be hearing.
Fantastic work, CCL Indiana, and congratulations on this news coverage of your advocacy!
