CCL’s Summer Conference and Lobby Day is less than a week away! CCLers from all around the country will be on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, July 22, holding hundreds of meetings with Congress.

Our visit comes just weeks after Congress passed a major budget reconciliation bill that significantly rolls back clean energy measures we were lobbying hard to protect.

“We don't want to just let this bill go,” said Jennifer Tyler, CCL’s Vice President of Government Affairs during CCL’s July meeting on Saturday. “This is a really critical window to let members of Congress know that we're watching, as climate advocates, and we really care” about fixing these harmful provisions.

As of right now, we have 357 lobby meetings scheduled, with more being confirmed all the time. Our goal is to hold over 400 meetings by the end of our Lobby Day.

“We're going to have a clean energy-themed primary ask for every single member, Republicans and Democrats,” Jenn said. “We’re going to let them know that clean energy is important not just for climate, not just for emissions, but for energy costs, for American competitiveness and overall for the success of our economy.”

We’re not stopping there. Meetings will also include asks around permitting reform, which will help America build and connect more clean energy faster, as well as funding for some key clean energy programs that President Trump has proposed to cut.

Watch the recording of our July meeting to hear more directly from Jenn and from CCL’s Congressional Liaison Program Manager, Mindy Ahler, about our upcoming visit to Capitol Hill.

Take action this week

If you have a little time: Call your Member of Congress to support our Lobby Day. When our volunteers meet with Congress, they don’t speak just for themselves, but for thousands of constituents back home. That’s why this Lobby Day, we’re asking you to make calls from home to reinforce the message of our lobby meetings. Our goal is 3,000 calls, and there’s a simple script available in our July Action Sheet. Plan to make your calls by Tuesday, July 22 to amplify the impact of our lobby meetings. With these calls, you may not be on Capitol Hill in person, but your voice will still be a vital part of the conversation.
