Hi Team,
Tim Dec (a CCLer in my region) has a connection to Krystal Laymon (https://www.linkedin.com/in/krystal-laymon-93813924/) who has worked on EJ for FEMA. She is interested in connecting with CCL's EJ action team and has offered to be a guest speaker if we're interested in that. (I made it clear to Tim that I didn't have unilateral authority to invite guest speakers, since EJ is all about democratic process and we try to follow that here, so we haven't invited her yet, but the option is on the table.)
Would folks be interested in hearing from Krystal Laymon at one of our upcoming calls?
I don't get the impression that she's from an EJ community herself, which is part of my hesitation, but I think she'd still have interesting things to teach us about how the federal government is thinking about EJ.
With gratitude,
Lisa

A Google search on Krystal Laymon led me to this video recording of a June 2020 conference on Energy Affordability and Equity Planning sponsored by the US DOE. I haven't spent the time yet to watch the whole recording, but it looks like it may have useful information.

I’m definitely interested in learning more from her. It seems she done a lot of work in clean energy, especially in underserved communities. She’s also helped write clean energy policy initiative ideas for Biden. A huge part of this document is EJ. Thanks for the feedback! Krystal is available to be a guest speaker for our March call. I'll post more details as the plans get finalized. If you have any particular requests for content, let me know.
