I'm watching The Ezra Kline show on YouTube with Jesse Jenkins and Jane Flegal. There's so much to unpack here and would love some help from others.
One question I have is how can we productively communicate with Republicans about the continued and ADDED subsidies for dirty, polluting energy that is harming everyone whilst also losing to competition with China?
@Lisa Ruckman and there's a subsidy for a type of coal that is sold to China to make steel cheaper that competes with the US?? I can't wrap my head around this..
@Lisa Ruckman - there are many examples of how the US is handing leadership of the next technological revolution in human history to China in deference to US fossil fuel interests. This article is my attempt to frame that message: The Growing U.S. Carbon Price Gap.
We carved out time to talk about this in our NH lobby meetings last week. I wish CCL lobby teams had the discussion in all our meetings, especially with Republican offices.
@Deirdre Henderson - thank you! Feel free to copy from it as you wish. I also have a one-pager leave-behind (with 11 supporting pages) and a recording and slides of a presentation I delivered at the CCL Northeast Regional Conference in April. All my CPG resources are available at carboncashback.org/carbon-price-gap and are free to use, copy, and modify as you wish. Best, John
