Hi Policy Team,
When I wrote to my Congressmember to look at the Energy Innovation Act HR 5744, they wrote back to tell me that they voted to supportĀ
H.R.4824 - Carbon Sequestration Collaboration ActĀ
(must have supported as a member of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee). It is introduced by bipartisan co-sponsors Rep Baird (IN-04) and Lofgren (CA-18), and passed the SST committee with a unanimous vote.Ā
1- Does CCL have a take on this policy? (So our chapter can know whether to be enthusiastically or cautiously grateful to the Congressmember.)Ā
2- Is this something that we want to support as a wider organization?Ā
3- If yes, who are our liaisons / chapters in IN-04 and CA-18? Let's get those chapters activated and enthusiastic with their MoCs. Maybe tag them?Ā
Ā
Sidenote, should the Carbon Pricing Bills in Congress get updated for the 118th Congress?Ā
Ā
With gratitude,
DebbieĀ
Thanks @Debbie Chang! I've asked our government affairs team and will post what I hear back. And yes, that page is in the process of being updated by next week, thanks for asking!

Here's the feedback from our Gov. Affairs Team:
1) CCL has been supportive of carbon capture and sequestration. This bill, which would expand research, development, and deployment of carbon sequestration within the Department of Energy, is a positive step forward. Given the policy itself and the wide bipartisan support, you should feel comfortable giving an enthusiastic thank you.
2) The gov affairs team reviews potential supporting asks before each lobby day and while we have our asks planned for November, we will add this legislation to our list to consider before our June lobby day next year.
