Hi all! My name is Amber, and I am the resilience and education intern this semester. Today, I'm here to discuss an issue that keeps coming to my attention: information overwhelm and uncertainty about the "right" information to learn on CCL's many pages.
If you're like me, you might be a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information on CCL. It's wonderful that CCL has compiled so many useful sources and ideas. But I also find that it can be difficult to know where to go next or what to focus my attention on in any given moment. Do I do the training on carbon pricing economics or the one on chapter building? Do I spend my time checking all the links in one training and becoming an expert on one very niche subject, or should I diversify and experiment with lots of different trainings without diving too deep?
I definitely experience that classic sense of informational FOMO and shutdown when I see all my many options.
I've heard many of you express similar sentiments, so I decided to focus this (and several future posts) on highlighting some favorite resources, courses, and concepts.
My (current) favorite resources in the resilience resource collection:
1) Climate Mental Health Network: this offers lots of great resources for managing and learning about some of the emotions that often accompany climate work. My favorite sections here are the "Create" page and the "Creative Therapies for Climate Emotions" document (featuring coloring pages!).Â
2) Eco-Anxious Stories: This provides a platform for people to share their stories about and experiences in eco-anxiety, climate grief, and related ecological emotional experiences. It's reassuring to see that other people experience a variety of different mental states and emotions in climate work.Â
3) The Climate Game: Sometimes climate information becomes so "statistics-ified" that it loses all meaning for me. I've found that this interactive online game offers a way to play around with climate ideas, policies, and concepts in realistic scenarios to better grasp them. It's also a great way to become familiar with some of the proposed climate solutions and ideas!
You can find all these resources and more in CCL Resilience Resources.
