In this session, Dr. Renee Lertzman, psychologist and founder of Project InsideOut, explained the research behind behavior change and provide insight on how to apply this concept to large-scale environmental work that is often under huge constraints and pressing urgency. Participants will learn skills and build their capacity to better align with the psychological and emotional realities of the issue they and their organizations are dealing with, and as a result be able to shift internal dynamics and team cultures in a way that drives long term engagement and action.

Attunement is commonly used in clinical psychology to describe the phenomenon of feeling understood. When a friend, colleague or stakeholder responds with, "you get me," you know you've effectively tuned into their experiences and dilemmas. If we apply attunement to how we communicate the need for change with our communities, we'd achieve a lot more success. We'd be able to actually engage with individuals in real ways.
