Understanding the Foreign Pollution Fee Act 18509
Understanding the Foreign Pollution Fee Act
42
The Foreign Pollution Fee Act, reintroduced by Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in April 2025, aims to impose a fee on certain imported products based on their pollution intensity compared to U.S.-produced equivalents. This legislation seeks to address environmental concerns, promote fair trade, and protect American industries from unfair competition by holding foreign polluters accountable for the climate impacts of their exports to the U.S.

This training aims to equip CCL volunteers and stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the Foreign Pollution Fee Act, its implications for U.S. climate policy, and strategies for effective advocacy.
