CCL’s national Outdoor Recreation Action Team brings together outdoor enthusiasts to advocate for bold climate solutions. If you’re passionate about hiking, skiing, climbing, walking, gardening, pickleball, golf — or any outdoor activity — this is the team for you!

Recently rebranded from “Outdoor Industry” to “Outdoor Recreation,” this team was founded by Bill Barron, who now serves as a State Network Director for CCL. The team is now co-led by Laurel Eastman and Laurie Manos. Laurel’s experience as a professional kiteboarder and entrepreneur brings a unique perspective to the team’s mission of preserving the outdoor spaces and activities we all love. Laurie’s background includes over a decade as Head of Global Consumer Insights for Converse, a division of Nike Inc., where her work included helping to develop sustainable products and strategies.

The Outdoor Recreation Action Team recently raised significant funds through CCL’s end of year PledgeIt campaign, thanks to Bill’s leadership and the efforts of the entire group. Team members earned donations for all sorts of activities, including miles ridden on their bikes, time spent studying a new language, and more.

In 2025, the team plans to expand grassroots outreach, strengthen relationships with outdoor industry leaders, and encourage outdoor-focused lobbying efforts. Want to get involved? Visit CCL's Outdoor Recreation Action Team page to learn more, including details to join their next Zoom meeting on January 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. You can also chat with Laurel, Laurie, or other team members in the comments below!
