One of the reasons you don’t want to miss the Citizens’ Climate International Conference in Washington this June is the chance to hear Dr. Katharine Hayhoe in person. Considered one of the best climate change communicators in the nation,  Dr. Hayhoe is an atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on understanding what climate change means for people and the places where we live.

She is a professor at Texas Tech University and has been named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People and Fortune’s 50 World’s Greatest Leaders. CCL thought so much of her work that we sponsored her “Global Weirding” video series that explains the often complicated science of climate change and debunks some of the widely circulated contrarian myths surrounding the topic.

An evangelical Christian, she bridges the gap between science and religion. Together with her husband Andrew Farley, a pastor of Church Without Religion in West Texas, she co-wrote “A Climate for Change: Global Warming Facts for Faith-Based Decisions,” which will be out with a second edition this year.

Dr. Hayhoe’s work has resulted in over 125 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, and other publications and many key reports, including the U.S. Global Change Research Program’s Second National Climate Assessment; the U.S. National Academy of Science report, Climate Stabilization Targets: Emissions, Concentrations, and Impacts over Decades to Millennia; and the 2014 Third National Climate Assessment. In addition to these reports, she  has led climate impact assessments for a broad cross-section of cities and regions, from Chicago to California and the U.S. Northeast. The findings of these studies have been presented before Congress, highlighted in briefings to state and federal agencies, and used as input to future planning by communities, states, and regions across the country.

Dr. Hayhoe will deliver a keynote address at the Citizens’ Climate International Conference. Register now to secure your spot and hear her message.

April 24, 2024 One of CCL’s activities during election years is to mobilize people who care about climate and the environment to cast their votes.
