A question from my lobby day from the aid. “What happened to the RISEE Act?” - Am I correct that it came very close to passing as part of the IRA but just didn't make it through the final negotiations? It ended last congress with strong bipartisan support (33 cosponsors) which is why it was reintroduced this year, with the expectation/hope that it could be part of a larger bill package in this congress?
Thanks @Ren Englum! It did and the Reinvesting in Shoreline Economies and Ecosystems Act has been reintroduced in the House and Senate this session as:
1. H.R.913 — 118th Congress (2023-2024)
2. S.373 — 118th Congress (2023-2024)
… adding to Brett's reply, just in case you don't already have it, our one-page supporting ask RISEE leave behind is available on CCL Community
@Ren Englum The RISEE Act was one of our supporting asks. It has 12 sponsors in the House right now- the latest one is Julia Brownley and she joined the sponsors June 15, so I am guessing she might have been talked into it on Lobby Day! We lobbied several offices in Virginia to join the sponsors and we hope we might pick up one or two that way. It has 22 sponsors in the Senate.
@Ren Englum Next action to be taken by Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources, 11/19/24, at 9:30 AM; I found this, when updating my information pertinent to the RISEE Act. Am I correct in understanding this is the next Congressional action to be taken on this bill?
